The Balrog is a ancient demon of fire and shadow from Lord of the Rings, a Maiar corrupted by darkness that Gandalf confronts in the depths of Moria.

The demon of shadow and flame crouches aggressively atop broken masonry, massive bat-like wings spread wide and its horned head roaring with a maw of fangs. Its muscular body is covered in cracked, ember-lined hide, with a whip of fire circling around it.
